332 Prophets of the Bible. Spring; 4 credits (L-E). An introduction to the thought, literature, and history of the prophets of ancient Israel (in English). Crosslisted with Jewish, Lit Trans, and Religious Studies 332. Prerequisite: Open to Freshman. Honors credit available--see instructor.
343 Israeli Fiction in Translation. Spring ; 3 credits (L-I). Major writers, trends and themes in Israeli fiction from pre-State period to present. Meets with Lit Trans 367 and Jewish Studies 367. Prequisite: Open to Freshman. Selected readings in Hebrew for majors. Honors credit available--see instrutor.
346 Jewish Literature of the Greco-Roman Period. Spring; 3 credits (L-I). Jewish literature from 350 BCE to 150CE. The Greek and Hebrew sources include stories, religious poetry, wisdom books and apocalyptic texts. Readings (in translation) from the Apocrypha, Pseudepigrapha, and the Dead Sea Scrolls in their historical, cultural and literary setting. Crosslisted with Jewish Studies and Religious Studies 346. Honors credit available--see instructor.
371 Topics in Jewish Civilization. Spring; 3 credits (H-D). Topics vary each semester. Crosslisted with Jewish 371 and Meets with Religious Studies 400. Prerequisite: Open to Freshman. Honors credit available--see instructor.
377 Jewish Cultural History. Spring; 4 credits (H-I). Survey of Jewish cultural history from the Biblical to the Talmudic and early Muslim periods; and its interaction with other cultures, including Hellenistic, Roman, and Muslim. Crosslisted with Jewish and Religious Studies 377. Prerequisite: sophomore standing. Honors credit available--see instructor.
