217 Introduction to Biblical Literature. Fall; 4 credits (I-L). Introduction to the literature and literary history of the Old Testament, Apocrypha, Dead Sea Scrolls, Talmud, and Midrashim. Meets with Literature in Translation/Jewish Studies/Religious Studies 227. Selected readings in Hebrew for majors. Writing Intensive. Prerequisite: none. Open to Freshman. Not recommended for Graduate students. Honors credit available--see instructor.

241 Introduction to Biblical Archaeology. Fall; 4 credits (H-E). An overview of archaeology and its relationship to understanding the biblical world. Crosslisted with Jewish Studies. Prerequisite: none. Open to Freshman. Honors credit available--see instructor.  368 The Bible in the Middle Ages. 3 credits (L-D). Medieval Bible and its shaping effect on medieval culture. Prerequisite: Sophmore standing or consent of instructor. Crosslisted with Medieval Studies, History, and Religious Studies. Honors credit available--see instructor.
371 Topics in Jewish Civilization. Topic will be "Jewish Biblical Interpretation in the Middle Ages"  3 credits (H-D). Prerequisite: none. Open to Freshman. Crosslisted with Jewish Studies and meets with Religious Studies 400, Lecture 2.. Honors credit available--see instructor.
451 Biblical Archaeology. Fall ; 3 credits ((H-I). Meets with Hebrew 241. Extra reading and paper required. Prerequisite: MUST be a graduate student in the Hebrew Department.
