Symbols in the the "L" column show course level. Sixty credits of advanced and intermediate level courses are required for the L&S BA/BS degrees. E=Elementary, I=Intermediate, A=Advanced, D=Intermediate or Advanced.

103 Biblical Hebrew-First Semester. Fall; 4 credits (EC). Meets with Hebrew 303. Prerequisite: none. 303 Biblical Hebrew-First Semester. Fall; 3 credits (EC). Meets with Hebrew 103. Intended for juniors, seniors, or graduate students. Students may not receive credit for both Hebrew 103 and Hebrew 303. 323 Biblical Texts: Prose. Fall; 4 credits (IC). Prerequisite: Hebrew 104 or consent of instructor. Honors credit available--see instructor. 513 Biblical Texts: Poetry. (Crosslisted with Jewish Studies 513.) Fall; 3 credits (LAC). Meets with Hebrew 651. Prerequisite: Hebrew 324 or consent of instructor. Honors credit available--see instructor. 651 The Book of Isaiah. Fall; 3 credits (LAC). Meets with Hebrew 513. Philological and literary study of the Hebrew text. Readings in the ancient translations. Prerequisite: Hebrew 514 or consent of instructor. 953 Seminar in Pentateuchal Criticism. 2 credits. A study of the history and methodology of critical research in the Pentateuch. It will trace the development of non-homiletical Bible studies, with special attention to the Pentateuch, from ancient to modern times. Prerequisite: 2 years of Biblical Hebrew & graduate standing or consent of instructor.
