Course Objectives:

2. To gain an appreciation and critical understanding of various literary genres in the Hebrew Bible

Course Requirements:
1. Attendance: You are expected to attend each class. Three unexcused absences are allowed. Each absence in excess of three will result in a 5% reduction of your daily assignments grade.
2. Assignments: You are expected to complete the assignments for each class. Failure to do so will exclude you from participating in the class discussion that day and will be reflected in your daily assignments grade.
3. Quizzes: A quiz will be given at the beginning of class each Friday. Please see the quiz schedule, which I have posted online. Missed quizzes will be recorded as a zero. There are no make-ups except by special permission. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped when calculating your final grade.
4. Exams: Midterm on Wed Mar 16, and Final on 7:45 AM, Tues May 10. The exams will cover the texts read in class, Hebrew Grammar, and vocabulary. You must take the final at the scheduled time.
5. Readings: You must present two oral readings. The first must be 20+ verses of a poetic text. The second must be a memorized recitation of either Deuteronomy 6:4-9 or Psalm 23. These are due before March 18 and April 29 respectively.
