Fall Semester
Welcome to Hebrew 201! We hope you enjoyed the summer and are ready to continue in our adventure of uncovering the secrets of the Hebrew language and culture.
The following are some basic guidelines for the work we will be doing this semester. If at anytime you wish to discuss any aspect of the course, especially if you encounter a problem, speak to us as soon as possible in class or in our office at 1356 Van Hise Hall. Our phone number is 262-2967 & 262-3204 (Department Office), and/or by appointment.

The following information and suggestions should help in making your Hebrew studies a successful and enjoyable learning experience.
1. Attendance, active participation in class, and preparation of daily assignments are mandatory. Absence from every 4 classes will result in loss of a grade.
<>2. Tardiness - You are expected to be ready for class before the bell rings. Tardiness is disruptive for everyone. (Every 3 equal one absence).3. All reading materials must be prepared at home prior to class meetings. Students will be expected to read fluently and comprehend by using the dictionary.
4. A written assignment will be given at the end of each unit. In these papers you are expected to integrate the contents, grammar and vocabulary of the unit. (A list of topics is in your Hoveret.) Write every second line in pencil. An assignment is completed only after you correct it.
5. All corrected assignments and quizzes should be kept in a two-pocket folder and handed in on the last day of class.
6. Dialogues from +2000 Everyday Hebrew Dialogues will be covered this semester. Students must listen to dialogues at least 3 times at home. You must show good comprehension and fluent reading ability in the lab. Vocab. of the dialogues will be checked in the quizzes.
7. There are weekly lab assignments. See page V, VI, VII.
8. The audio material of the textbook can be downloaded from the following website:
http://imp.lss.wisc.edu/lss/mediacat/he/1/030/index.html
