I am happy to make appointments with you outside of class time. I encourage you to send me an email, and we will arrange a time that will work for both of us.

Course Objectives:
1. Reinforce grammar from Hebrew 103/303
2. Continue grammar study from Hebrew 103/303, concentrating on weak verbs
3. Gain proficiency in reading biblical Hebrew through practice translation and attention to syntax
4. Gain an appreciation of the literature of the Hebrew Bible

Course Requirements:
1. Attendance: You are expected to attend each class. Three unexcused absences are allowed. Each absence in excess of three will result in a 5% reduction of your daily assignments grade.
2. Assignments: You are expected to complete the assignments for each class. Failure to do so will exclude you from participating in the class discussion that day and will be reflected in your daily assignments grade.
3. Quizzes: A brief quiz will be given each Monday at the beginning of the class hour covering vocabulary (cumulative) and the previous week's grammar. Missed quizzes will be recorded as a zero. There are no make-ups except by special permission. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped when calculating your final grade.
4. Exams: Two exams will be given: a mid-term on Wed, Mar. 16, and a final at 5:05 PM, Fri., May 13. The final will be cumulative. You must take the final at the scheduled time.
5. Final Project / Oral Recitation: You are expected to prepare the following text and read it before the instructor with fluency and proper inflection by Fri., April 29: Ruth 1:1-18. A translation of the passage with all the verbs parsed must be handed in at the recitation. You must schedule an appointment for this. You may give the recitation any time after spring break and before April 29th. However, you must have the appointment scheduled before spring break. If you wait to schedule the appointment until after spring break, you will lose a letter grade.

Students needing disability-related accommodations should see me as soon as possible.
