Course
Objectives:
1. To
acquire the ability to read elementary Biblical
Hebrew texts.
2. To
develop an appreciation of ancient Hebrew
literature and culture.
Course
Requirements:
1. Attendance – Class
attendance is required. If you have
conflicts that you know about (sports, family, etc.), contact me as
soon as
possible. Poor attendance will reduce
your daily assignment grade.
2. Assignments – You are
expected to complete the assignments for each class.
3. Quizzes – There
will be brief quiz once a week. Quizzes
will cover vocabulary (cumulative) and the previous week’s grammar.
Missed
quizzes will be recorded as a zero. There are no make-ups
except by
special permission. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped when
calculating your
final grade.
4. Exams – Two exams
will be given:
Mid-term on Oct. 22.
Final at 10:50 AM
on Dec. 20. The final will be cumulative.
5. Oral Reading – You
will prepare one of the following texts—Num 6:22-27 or Deut 6:4-9—and
read it aloud
with fluency and proper inflection. It
is your responsibility to make an appointment with me to complete the
reading. This must be completed before Fri. Dec. 3.
Students needing
